Kadek, one of our Balinese Team member is picking and packing the shells left after opening the coconuts in bags. We use them in our gardens or we sell them.
Tyron is opening the kernel of the coconut and Sabine our Austrian Yoga teacher is harvesting the precious water which makes a most nutrient rich drink.
This is the time to bag our
Jackfruit.
When they are small we will hide them in big bags, and they will actually grow to the size of the bags. This is done in order to avoid insects from hosting inside. The next photo shows the grown jackfruit. When green we use it as a vegetable, when ripe, it is juicy insides and can be dried and also eaten as a fruit.
At Jiwa Damai we offer different products. You can see more
Jiwa Damai was awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2015 as a direct result of its consistently great reviews from its guests, being one of the 9% places in Indonesia receiving this award in a highly competitive market.
Jiwa Damai Organic Garden & Retreat is more than a hospitality business. It offers sanctuary in an idyllic, powerful environment, in the heart of Bali where the guests can reconnect to the life-giving qualities of the earth. Travelers can experience tranquility by taking part in yoga classes in the morning and evening meditation.
Jiwa Damai is also a place of personal development and of learning by doing. The garden is opened for the Permaculture Design Courses through the Heart which are organized in October. Through the Lagu Damai Bali Foundation, Jiwa Damai hosts interns who develop personalized projects in various fields under academically qualified supervision.
TripAdvisor used a complex algorithm in order to determine the Certificate of Excellence winners, taking into account the quality, quantity and recency of the reviews offered by the travelers, as well as their rating. The aim of the Certificate of Excellence is to reveal exceptional spots of happiness as recognized by travelers.
Our Swiss guests and Jiwa Damai was invited to the wedding of one of the village chiefs' son. A very exciting and elegant affair. The intricate clothing and make up of the groom and the bride, the decoration of the whole house takes at least a month to accomplish.
We are all searching. We travel around the world, we talk to people, we experience new situations, we learn and we do all these things in order to make peace with ourselves, with our heart, in order to align with our potential.
AtJiwa Damaiwe received a different gift this Christmas: knowledge. Dr. Margret Rueffler invited the interns, volunteers, staff and friends for a one-day seminar on Heart-Self Intelligence.
We could describe it in carefully crafted words on a blog post but it is something one can only experience it if one allows its heart to do so. Come visit us, you’ll understand why! Or find out more about our internship programthat individually guides our participants on their path to self-development while completing their project.

No matter how far, how hot or how different it may be from where you usually celebrate it, as soon as the last week of the year approaches you start longing for Christmas. So even if you are in the tropical parts of the planet, as we are here, at Jiwa Damai, in sunny Bali, there are still things you can do to calm that wish of a white Christmas.
But since we’re pretty short on snow and Christmas trees, we’ve got our decorations on another beautiful tree, just close to the place we’ll have our Christmas dinner, almost as, or even better than in a colder climate.
Christmas it’s great in itself, who said you have to be freezing to enjoy it!
But we are in Bali and each year we also celebrate the Galungan - Kuningan. Therefore, our interns, volunteers and staff have prepared also a Balinese Penjor. Here are some pictures.
Find out more about the Balinese celebration here.

Garden hats and boots are ready and waiting for being used in our #organic gardens. Since we are so close to the equator, hats are a must in the garden. The sun comes straight from above and one needs protection
The hand holding the flower is the logo of Lagu Damai foundation and Jiwa Damai Agro. It represents giving of a flower by a gentle hand. At the same time gentle and strong.
A short 10 minutes walk from our #Jiwa#permaculture retreat center you can observe the various steps of planting the rice paddies. Once harvested, the ducks will take over to eat all critters and then the area is set under water for a while. The fields crops is rotated every so often. All is planted and harvested by hand. Some of the areas have already transferred back to #organic approaches.
